Remember Dr. Riddhima From DIll Mill Gayye? Here’s What She is Up To These Days
Do you remember Shilpa Anand aka Dr. Riddhima Gupta from the show “Dill Mill Gayye”? She became a popular face of the TV industry when she first appeared in this show with the actor Karan Singh Grover. It has been 10 years since the show was first aired on the Star One and in these years, she looks like to be missing a little from the limelight.
She won many awards alongside Karan Singh Grover for her performance in “Dill Mill Gayye” (2007). But, did you know that she was living in South Africa and did her schooling from there? Well, she moved to India in 2000 and started pursuing her higher studies.
She did her Masters in Computer Applications (MCA) from the Punjab University during the period 2000-2003. She also has an elder sister named Sakshi Shivanand, who is a film actress of South Indian industry. So, now we can understand from where she got her inspiration to become an actress.
In her entire career, she has done over 40 commercials with many famous Bollywood actors and his role of Dr. Riddhima landed her in the major limelight. But unfortunately, her contract with the show ended in June 2008, as a result, she had to leave the show, so does the role of Dr. Riddhima.
After two years of absence from the show, the producers insisted her to sign a new contract and she made her comeback in the show in June 2010. However, the show ended on Oct 29, 2010, but her presence stole our heart again, wanting us to see her more.
Later, in 2012 she appeared in another TV show called “Teri Meri Love Stories”, in which she played the role of Meera alongside her co-star Viraf Patel. This show was aired on Star Plus and ended on Oct 8, 2012. While in 2013, she appeared in a Bollywood film Bloody Isshq as Raadhika, which also stars Akash and Tripta Parashar in the lead roles.
She did her last film “Ye Hai Lolipop” in 2016, which was a comedy, romance and based on the growing mall culture in India. The film stars Lt. Om Puri, Chirag Thakkar, Rajpal Yadav and Sanjay Misra alongside Shilpa Anand.
On the other hand, her last TV show was BIG Magic’s “Mahisagar” (2015), in a special episode. But, it seems like none of these things worked out for her. Being a popular face in the TV industry still not enough to get best of work.
However, in these years she does appear in a few music video like Kuch Der Tak (By Hariharan, 2007), Kachichiyan (By Savvy Sandhu, 2014), Khwaishein (By Shael Oswal, 2014) and Over Under (By Tarsem Jassar). But, is that really enough? No, I guess!
She is now 34 and looks like cute as a button in her selfies. But, we still wonder why she didn’t get as many roles after Dill Mill Gayye? We do want to see her in more roles or may be on the big screen if that happens. We seriously think she needs to come back and don’t let her talent wasted in other work.
